I am a little bit behind with Texts and photos, so little time and/or no/very slow inet connection, update today from Port Elizabeth, SA again.
Mi 2.4. Skeleton Coast
cloudy in the morning, we saw an fisher boat wreck at the beach. Looking on the map: the whole Coast ist filled with ship wrecks, seems like a dangerous place. Strong current from the south to the north drives your ship to the coast, so engine failure and you’re done…
Next: then through a real dry desert to a town named Kharikas.
We stopped in the desert, a place i would call in the middle-of-nowhere..
Sorry.. had some Problems with photo uploads, me and FlickR produced/SNAFUed some link errors .. some old photo links in the blog disappeared, going to correct it, as soon as i find the time.
Fr. 4.4. and SA 5.4 Etosha National Park
We entered the gate at about 11:00, first gamedrive in Etosha.
Etosha had very heavy rainfalls this autumn, so it got very green. Etohsa ist a kind of mixed bush/grass savannah. Spotting animals isn’t easy because the bushes and t6he grass grew very high. We saw zebras, Impala antilopes, Springboks, Oryxes.
In the afternoon at about 16:00 clock we experienced a heavy thunderstorm in Etosha with a beautiful double rainbow after. Roads went muddy. On our way to Halali Camp: Highlight of the first day, a black rhino. In the evening at the watherfole (light flooded) the/ a rhino again.
We saw the large Salt plain. Etosha: imagine a real large plain 200 * 100 kilometers, in the middle a salt plane 120*40 km just pure white/light grey salt. you can see x (20,30, 40 ???)kilometers in every direction. room for thousands of soccer fields in the grass areas.
