Long trip from Citrusdal to the Namibean Border about 600 km, we needed 12,5 hours because of some road works.
Only some short stops on the road, very interesting changing landscape, as you get northward it changes from green slowly to desert.
Start in Citrusdal
on the road
Very interesting rock formations with interesting colors, but we didn’t have time for good photo shooting.
One last stop at Springbok, for last minute shopping and then we headed for the border. Border is located at a border river called Orange river. First SA border patrol/customs, then over a bridge in no-mans-land and then Namibia officials .. took about an hour.
We arrived late in our lounge for today called Felix Unite located directly at the Orange River. It was dark, so we couldn’t see anything,
So we just had a late dinner, some beers at the bar and watched the milkyway in the clear sky. Bed time 23:30.
Got up very early today at 4:45 clock, still completely dark. This early it’s very quiet, you only hear the river and then some birds start singing. Tried some shots of the milkyway. Also used the time for copying from the SD-cards to my MBA, backup to one of my USB-drives and importing them in my loved LR5 Software. You also need time for sorting them, deleting bad shots, adding keywords/hashtags. At 6:00 the sky started to turn first deep blue and then orange/yellow for sunrise at the river. Sunrise was at about 7:10. .. LOL forgot to set my Camera to local time.. .

Trip to Fish river canyon, 2nd largest canyon in the world. We arrive at the gate to the park around 12:30, temperature / in the shadow 33°C . We drive to one viewing point and wow: 550 meters deep, all shades of brown. Next a walk along the edge (about 2 kilometers i think) and lots of photo opportunities. lunch at the edge of the canyon, and then we continue to Hotsprings. We arrive early today 17:00 , so time to relax.
